Great site, great information! I'm currently building a '70 455 to put in my '71 Skylark Convertible (originally had the 350 2 bbl.). I have a couple questions...this looks like the group with all the best advice!

    - Transmission; am I okay rebuilding the original transmission...or do I need to swap for a different transmission for the big block?

    - Any of you try the Offenhauser dual quad manifold on this engine (from TA)? If so, any cam recommendations? This is strictly a weekend cruiser. . .

    Thanks!!

Welcome to V8Buick, Jay! Not sure about the intake, but the TH350 will be ok with a stock 455, unless you abuse it. It can be built to take a 455's torque, but a TH400 would be more reliable, without putting a lot of $$ into it. I get to Burnsville once in a while to visit in-laws, maybe we'll have to get together with the other TC area Buick guys one of these days. I think a few guys are trying to plan a Buick get-together this summer out there.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

For w/e cruiser, you don't need the dual quad intake.
You should save your funds and concentrate on MSD ignition, dual exh, headers, port work. For great street cam try 224-236 from Straightline Performance, 3.08 gears w/posi and a 2200 stall. Your car originally had 2.56-2.73 gears so you should change them.

Thanks for the advice...much appreciated! My new engine arrives tomorrow. I'll probably bring the car back home this weekend and start the process...I'll grab digital pix along the way.

    Thanks again.
