I found these guys on line in California. I purchased an HVAC dash switch set up for $35.00 and the part was fantastic. I asked about a grille for my 64 and they sent back a photo of a 65 that looks nice. They have some good rust free sheet metal. Prices seem very good on the stuff he quoted me. This is his email - KB Kmett (skyhiguy@hotmail.com) His name is Keith Here is the grille - $50 plus $20 shipping and he said if you don't like it he will refund the cost of the parts (not the shipping though). This 4 door looks like it has other nice parts and maybe even quarters. :eek2: He has many Buicks. Send him a note on what you desire.
I just sent him an email stating I would take the grille for the 65 Skylark. I wonder where he is located. Probably in the southern part of the state, which is too far drive for a grille, but if he has other stuff maybe a road trip is called for.
No biggee, I don't need the parts yet, just thought they looked to be in good condition and I would save them for my build that I hope to start this fall. Did you also ask about the parking lights like I did?
I asked him about a few of the parts on the car. He did respond on the grille...........I'm waiting on another reply for the shipping cost. I gave him the info on this website since he asked. I'm sure he will sign up soon. He was part of his response. "Can take other pics. Interior is all sold except for cluster w/ switches, column, kick panels, glovebox door, internal dash wiring uncut, internal dash a/c related, and some chrome hardware. Wheels, engine, trans, hood, radiator, RH headlamp door, RH front wheel tub, hubcaps and jack sold so far. It might be easier to post pics if I knew the website you Buick Boys gather?"
He has a couple of 64-65 A/C parts listing on eBay. His eBay location is Yummy Valley, CA The dash bezel is one of the nicest I've seen. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Skylark-GS-...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item53ea592e94 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Skylark-Gra...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item53ea5968be
Yeah Kurt, I was curious where he's located too. If he hasn't responded to you already, my guess would be "Yummy Valley" is a nickname for Simi Valley, which is NW of L.A. BTW, do you "Non-California" guys (especially East Coast and Midwest guys) know about GM Sport Salvage here in San Jose? They have a really big selection of (as you might guess) GM old school parts. They have a big dismantling yard, with parts already off the cars and cataloged. They have some new parts too. Their prices tend to be a little on the high side, but if you need that "unobtainable" part, they might have it. Here's their site: http://www.gmsportssalvage.com/ --Chris
I have been to their place several times in the past and their prices are high especially for the condition of the parts. GM Sports Salvage get their parts from several different suppliers in the region. I know one of their long time suppliers so I just buy from him direct or he gives me the lead for the parts or cars since I have known him for quite some time and he sometimes can"t get to them all.
I live in Simi Valley, never heard it called "Yummy", mostly "Slimy" Valley. There is no wrecking yard here with iron like that. Believe me, I've looked.
He has responded, but only said he was in boondocks of southern California. I have a price from him on the turn indicators that I am going to accept when he gives me a PayPal account to send the money to. I also asked him about some interior parts, he has not responded yet, but it is Sunday. I was surprised he responded over the weekend to my first request. BTW, I have googled Yummy Valley and found nothing. It's not a geographic region of California.
I just received another email from Keith and he only has two sixties Buicks, a 65 Special and a 69 Electra. He also has a six cylinder 72 Malibu. He is somewhere in the southern California boonies....
The background in that photo of the 65 is the desert. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say somewhere between Victorville and Twentynine Palms. Could be as far south as Anza Borrego. The next time I'm out that way I'll have to watch for wrecking yards. Nothing there rusts, just gradually gets covered up with sand. Dennis
I have him confused with another yard in Cali. The other yard had many Buicks of the 60's. I had a photo of several stacks of very nice, mostly complete, cars. I will see if I can dig up the other lot.
