can anyone tell me what needs to be done to make a offy dual quad intake perform. i heard something abuot how the floor is that it dont flow right. and if so how much power would i loose over the sp1. there is just something about dual 4's sticking out the hood.
personally i think dual quads work best on high compression big blocks. i dont see how you need so much fuel with a stock/mild engine. the sp1 is supposed to be the crem de la crem of intakes though.
I'll let you know HOW the Dual Quads perform, AFTER I get them done, Shane!:bglasses: That's THE reason that I'M using them: THEY LOOK COOL!:TU: They will be FUNCTIONAL, too, though. I'm not trying to beat any "speed records" with a Dual Quad, but I guarantee it WILL beat a lot of MUSTANGS and CAMAROS on the street!:TU: That's good enough for me.:bglasses: If you want to DRAG RACE your Skylark, Shane, you don't want the Dual Quads!:Smarty: Get the SP1 for the STRIP!:TU:
scott, dual quads arent bad for drag racing...remember the 70's when BBC guys had ported iron heads, nearly home made headers, tunnel ram 2x4 intake...they drag raced those! just my $.02! :beer
I didn't mean it that way, Bryon.:TU: With the "Offenhauser" (455) Dual Quad intake, specifically, it doesn't "match" the Block/Heads very well, as far as the Ports lining up. It's not a very "efficient" intake, in other words. Too bad "Edelbrock" never made a Dual Quad intake for the 455, I'd be interested in that, for sure!:Brow::TU: Maybe "someone" should TELL THEM to, and they might!:bglasses: The Tunnel Ram setups are different, and are SPECIFICALLY built FOR "Drag Racing", unlike the "Offenhauser".:Smarty::TU: Compared to today's "technology", and with some of the "proven" results, it's kind of tough to outperform an SP1, as far as for a "race" application.o No:
