I know many people have asked this question. How much should it cost in today's market to get dual exhaust for a '70 350 with stock manifolds with the x-pipe thingy(is it needed??:Do No: ) and Flowmasters 40 series, and nice tailpipes? And could anyone recommend someone around my area, McHenry, Illinois that is good, Thanks in advance.

Check out your phone book and look for a muffler shop, just ask if they have a mandrel bender. If you already have the mufflers already, it shouldn't be alot since all they have to do is bend it, fit it and weld it togethor. If you don't want to go that route, you can grab one of those "already built" kits that alot of mailorders have.

If exhaust is all you're gonna do to the car. Flowmasters American Thunder #17119 is complete with H-pipe mufflers and two sets of tailpipes - one Chevy style straight the other Buick style turndown. A set of TA head pipes from manifolds to H-pipe will be needed.

I think the system can be had for around $285 headpipes for around $75 and install should be around $100 to $150 depending on how much the bolts on old system have to be heated for removal on manifold.

If you have the muffler shop do the work and supply the parts, make sure to opt for the aluminized pipe. Some shops only use aluminized; but at some, its an option. Its a little more expensive, but worth it.

I recently priced some complete systems for my cousin's '67 camaro with 2 1/2" aluminized pipe and Flowmaster Delta's. The prices ranged from about $350-$450.

    Hope that helps. :)

You might want to check out Pypes Performance Exhaust Systems. I met them at a car show and they seem to address all the issues you are considering. I would get their catalog. It has a lot of information to help you make a decision like if you need an X-pipe, they are different then the H-pipe both in design and performance. 800-542-7278. They are in Hatfield Pa. For your car 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent 16 gauge aluminized steel for stock manifolds would be about $300.00 with out the X-pipe. Or $350.00 with the X-pipe including the downpipes. There are other exhaust dealers that other members can steer you too. Several have been recommended on this site. But I don't know if they make the downpipes you need for your 350. Good Luck
