We are redoing a 1969 Buick GS 400 Convertible, Stage 1 car. We would like to have as close as a #1 show car, correct to OEM features and parts. What finish is the correct choice for under the hood black? Eastwood underhood black matte or semi-gloss?? Eastwood black primer too? Thoughts??? THANKS! jrjensen@copper.net.

I'm just about done with my underhood detailing project. On the recommendation of friends from various clubs that have done this before I used Eastwood underhood black semi-gloss for the firewall, air cleaner, and a/c compressor. The inner fenders should have a more glossy look.

Some friends of mine are finishing work on a '68 GTO. For the firewall they used "Hot Rod Black" from CarQuest. I like that much better and would have used it if I had known about it. To me the Hot Rod Black looks more OEM than the Eastwood product.
