This is just my personal opinion on this carb. I would bet this is a restamp the numbers look too crisp and deep.
I would ask to see pictures before the resto to document.

Totally agree with the above 2 posts. Can get into further (as we were able to trace the history of the seller)- just not publicly...:TU:

    >>>I hope no one here purchased this. Please read the questions and answers:

Q: Is this an original stamped carburetor or a re-stamped carburetor? Dave
A: Carburetor is an original 69 buick qjet, thank you

READ THIS!!! I was bidding on this carb and my high bid was the same as the winning bid of $550.00, so I didn't get it (thank God!). Anyway, I get an e-mail from him saying the high bidder was unresposive, and if I wanted it, I could have it for my high bid of $550! Of course, I replied and told him I would take it for the next highest bid over what the last LEGITIMATE bid was ($301.06) which would have ben $306.06...he replied saying he would rather sell it to the THIRD bidder for his bid of $301.06, so I smelled a rat at this point. Here is his information...

His name is Emiliano Ochoa, and his e-mail addresses are emo.ochoa@gmail.com and emo_8a@hotmail.com By the way, he refused to communicate with me by phone, stating he would only communicate via e-mail (second clue that this guy is a DIRTBAG!!!).

    Here are copies of the e-mails I received and sent;

    Current price: $550.00
    Buy It Now price: $550.00
    Shipping: $15.00
    Expiration Time: Nov-07-09 09:55:24 PST
Message from seller: HI, The winner is unresponsive. Do you want to buy this item as a second chance offer. Otherwise I will be reselling it. This carb is rare and has had much interest in buy it now price. You have 3 days to decide. Best Regards.

    Dear emo_8a,

    Hi,
I am willing to buy it, but I would only be willing to go to just over what the next LEGITIMATE bidder bid. He bid $301.06, which put my bid at $306.06...the other guy who was not legit ran it up from there. I sell a lot on eBay as well, and this is the only fair way to do it. I would pay the $306.06, plus shipping of course, let me know.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Dear americanpursuit,

Sorry, I am not allowed to send you another second chance offer. Also, your first bid shows up as $456.56, not under $306.06. I misunderstood your first email to mean that you had placed a bid lower than $301.06 and then set your maximum bid to something higher. If your first bid was $456.56 how is it that you feel it is fair to pay $5 above the next lower bid? I am willing to work with you on a buy it now price. I can relist it at a new buy it now price at the end of the week. Is $306.06 your final price? Let me know soon.

    Mike,
Your first bid shows up on the bid record as 456.56 and the last bid shows up as 550. I don't think It is fair to ask me to sell you this carb at 306.06. Besides I cannot send you another second chance offer. I would have to relist it to sell it to you. I am not willing to relist it to make $5 more. I will most likely just send the 301.06 bidder a second chance offer. If he does not want it, I will relist it. I hope you win if you bid on it again. Best Regards.

    Mike,

I am extremely busy and am not willing to communicate by phone. I am selling this carb for some extra cash, not for a living.
Unless you would like to pay $456.56 plus S/H, I would just rather relist it.

    Best Regards,

    Emo

I will email you if I decide to relist it.

    > Okay, sorry to bother you. I was high bidder so please keep that in mind, I outbid everyone except for the deadbeat. It would have ended at $306.06 if the deadbeat hadn't bid on it, and I would have been the high bidder. It is just a shame that a dishonest person ruins it for an honest person like me. If you want to relist it it only costs a couple bucks and you can get your fees back from eBay from the first listing because the deadbeat didn't pay. If you change your mind and want to do the right thing, I am willing to buy it now and would Paypal the money immediately and you will not have to relist. > Thanks,

I appreciate all the help! I've asked him for some history and any proof that this carb is not a restamped piece. So far nothing substantial has been given me from his end.

At least we now know it's not the Padillo guy. My time runs out this afternoon. Brian

    I'm down to fifteen minutes........

It almost looks like the "K" is the same as this original Stage carb but its hard to tell. I was looking at a 69 GS carb I have and its numbers are nice like the ebay one. Hate to pass up a chance to replace one I threw away 30 years ago. If I ever get mine to where it needs a carb I don't think I'll sweat it :)

look at the difference in the 2's and 6's.

the factory used a roller stamp for the #'s and you can tell the one on ebay used separate stamps.

ask him what metering rods, jets, hanger are in it and ask him what #'s are stamped on the bottom of the inlet thread area and what #'s are in the circle on the back of the carb.

Dougs right by my experience with carbs the no# are the wrong size and spaced to wide its a restamp but a Good one if it has the Stage-1 set up in it and once its on the car the only person that can tell is a carb guy or a Buick know it all, judges at your local car shows :Do No:

Bogus Crap I wouldn't say its Crap can most guys buy a real one, No I have seen them go for as much a $3,500 and they had a ton of Bids and if they had more time it would have gone higher, so this Crap looks good at this price:dollar:

He offered it to me for $200 when I sent him an Email from Craigslist ... said he bought a box of carbs at a swap meet and had no idea if it was a restamp or not.

Either way, for $200 I was close to thinking about it but some of the hairs on the back of my neck said "Pass...."

    ... ALWAYS trust those hairs

Bad move you can't even buy a rebuilt ordinary no# for that if it is done right, that one had good color and No# that look good, may not be real but it had the looks, when I finally find a real one and redo it to a tee we will see what a real one is worth.

He said right in the ad, "this a great parts carb", after saying it had been rebuilt. What the heck does that BS mean ?

anyone who bid to win this thing did not do their homework. If I remember correctly this seller and his bogus carbs were brought into light by GD2227 at the very first of this auction.

Mark- when the carb was 'first' found for sale, a small group of board members discussed it (off the board) and followed a 'trail' exposing the seller. We had our suspisions which proved to be true.

MASH is right-It is a rebuilt, restored Buick q-jet and does have some worth- I bid it up to $200-$250.

I don't think it was a "bad move" at all...based on the numerous offers he has made to sell it in such a wide range (from $200 to $550) I doubt ANYONE would have actually ever seen the carburetor show up on their doorstep. This guy's a scammer. If you feel like taking a chance at throwing $200 (or more, depending on which ad you're responding to) out the window, then I guess more power to you.
