I just purchased this system on a presidents day sale (-10%) For my c10 with a 72' 455 https://acesefi.com/products/aces-efi-killshot™-tbi-system I just wanted to share this option. It's literally 100$ more than. 850cfm dp carb. Do you still carb?
I have FiTech on two cars. One is 2x4 (nailhead) and single on a BBB. There really is not a lot of complexity of TBI units, most use similar sensors for O2, fuel, temp, timing etc. And all the throttle bodies are pretty much similar. All parameters are software driven and managed by similar ECU. If the construction is good, the units should be on par. Support and manufacture's knowledge are most important. Follow the instructions on installation and proper "best practices", and most will be equal across the board. Pick yer favorite.
Certainly less expensive than a sniper kit, but you need the fuel system yet Tip throw the clamp on o2 sensor bung away and just weld a bung inline....a leak here is a killer
The GM HEI uses a magnetic pick up, they call it a pick up coil, https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinf...cjoDzo5Z3LMuCRkOuyydH68N5ubemyOLyN/N1IY3In4nW MSD makes a short harness to bypass the module when you want to trigger an MSD box, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-8861#overview
Yes i have a welding Bung already. As far as fuel system keep it simple.. let the mechanical pump feed a surgetank with a el FP in it it...(100$ on Ebay with a bosch 044 style) that is the easiest way + a external regulator (80$) and return into the tank or surgetank ( they have them in singel and dual for higher HP https://www.ebay.com/itm/184348293074?var=692039484233&_trkparms=amclksrc=ITM&aid=1110006&algo=HOMESPLICE.SIM&ao=1&asc=246279&meid=60fca47f04f94095add6b75f432f9132&pid=101195&rk=2&rkt=12&sd=184348293074&itm=692039484233&pmt=1&noa=0&pg=2047675&algv=SimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuWithRevOptLambda85KnnRecallV1AndV6ItemNrtInQueryAndCassiniVisualRanker&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum:18434829307460fca47f04f94095add6b75f432f9132|enc:AQAHAAABUPc3I89H0AQHQHV%2FOlsMl254OIifOGpM%2BBEVlem%2B%2B9zqkiF5v06l0lZvmgOKI85oqIQoVeqzX5anW3c2z8VQG1s2EXcLUko1slSTch6KegK80F7vxNzjrgLeB2hzasxLLDwDMEFtvhNKZO%2BbQ%2BQ2DwFN2UspUWVonMmvKMAvc%2B1y19sKYUEDjyFlzR1nqgDvrr9K2A5MKu0CMqCaI5IXmQTZ8dAUXFnV1casLGYuE6JmyKYK6DcAw%2BORCvQtjuhH2OqeoWO7IPMKP%2BLO%2Fq0Rz6mXohju%2FhiH5HQjxkQpm4sUEqnd41TmWuhepWXNs8dxsVb3wgEyzS2jlgKBWPuF1zU2fweLv60kavBiNrlHSno%2FOXDJwafVvCSWLWMDFnd5T3UXe%2FF7rZzZagf6l8q3p0i4Ffh%2Fqc17oqdSs1fS7gCzdoH0piWtwWB%2FohwfNq1QyA%3D%3D|ampidL_CLK|clp:2047675) that s how i have my Super sniper plumbed on my 68 TT its very simple and not expensive PS you need the fuel system for the Sniper as well so its the same expense
yea its a bit weird, but i think it has to do with RFI Surge. A problem that occurs with the Sniper , however 1 of the reasons is that the ECU in the SNIPER is in the TBI, I like that its a standalone unit at the ACES you can mount it far away from any interference for "RFI safety" Nevertheless they have a Video of a installation with a HEI here: that is the solution if you want to keep your setup !! and you have a MSD box already then you can have FULL TIMING CONTROL! you convert to a 2 wire signal and that is acceptable i dont use a Ign Box ( i might purchase one) i have a HEI with external Coil. its a retro style setup. its a 3 wire setup I ll try that 1st https://www.ebay.com/itm/234487368008?hash=item3698894948:g:gSEAAOSwx6pYqQsg:sc:ShippingMethodStandard!75137!US!-1&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAAsGB6jJR8t/I0xdne1Ir0qjiYfa+uneAULiR9DQfHh1eytCI8J3RG3wVg9H6t2uJyZNRbxjE7Tuxiz8I/gaWNKRScVT0zXZOBmDPDrkn9dilNFIaWQXhFmWqr1CuKIDniD5SLpHY/RxDDXQecVhsObdeVaECA5qdGkAbPW4eYH8j5+GbKytuhFnmC/tBH6u740+rpkuarSgvbDbfmf2VBcnadUMO/3wHgIiKfNSjHfmqj|tkp:Bk9SR46409HMYQ and see Aces Dizzys are fairly cheap wih 170$ and those are a plug and play setup for there setup and the Buick 455 Dizzy seems to be on the roadmap for mid summer... that would be the best scenario i think
PS this guy used exactly the MSD 2 wire converting cable that LARRY posted for a Timing controlled setup.... it will be the same ont he ACES EFI
I'm late to the EFI party; I'm wanting to convert the QJ on my stock 67 430 to EFI. I have a Pertronix Ignitor II system that's been flawless so far, and I'm trying to find a replacement fuel tank due to it being full of junk. If I read this right, I'd buy the surge tank to pull fuel from the tank to hold for the EFI as required, so no return line or tank mods? Do the pumps in your eBay link go in before and after the surge tank; what arrangement is used? What about my present setup do I need to modify or change to install this on my 'Cat? Thank you for your advice, ObiWan, you're my only hope!
Hi Its actually very simple as you said you leave the OEM Mechanical pump in place ... instead of letting it feed teh Carb you feed the Surge tank. the surge tank i postede has a Bosch style 044 pump so that supports up to 600-700Hp so aboslutly enough>>> If not you can get thoose with a Dual Bosch 044 as well For your return line i just feed it back into the surge tank. (it has 3x 6AN ports) You could also feed it back to the OEM tank if you have a return style anyways. ( so if you shopping for a tank you can get the return style pickup with it, that is preference) leave your ignition system alone... it will work as is. the PUMP is actually placed in the surge tank see my setup here for the C10 455 i am converting now here is a diagram i made so you see the routing i use Its fairly simple just add a 10 micron fuel filter before the EFI unit (its not showing here)
If you’re replacing the tank I personally would get an EFI tank with the pump in the tank. Eliminating the need of the mechanical pump. Just my opinion. That’s what I did on my sniper install and ran braided PTFE lines from Hot Rod Fuel Hose. Once again just my .02¢
My biggest issue so far is finding a replacement for a 67 Wildcat. I’ve looked through some compatibility listings but haven’t hit one yet that’s an identical match. I guess I could ship it off to get rebuilt, but I’m holding out for a better solution.
Can you find a stock replacement tank? If so you could go with an Aeromotive universal pump. I’m a firm believer in keeping to simple, although it may not be the cheaper route.
They look close; I’d need to check measurements. The Hollander list I looked at only had one other use, in a 65 Skylark, but that didn’t seem right. Still couldn’t find one of those either.
research it i think i remember that the 74 lesabres would work see here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=9108496&cc=1018088&pt=6268&jsn=1351
im pretty sure the 67-68 b body had a unique tank. not saying it cant be made to work. i remember the vgg episode and he had the issue of not finding a tank.
