    65electra401 My 225 ain't a Cadillac

I was just wondering if people could post some pictures of their Electras. I mainly want to see pics of the 1965 model year because that is the same as the year i have. If it isnt 65 still post pics because i still like the electras all around. I mainly want to see what the 65's look like in really good condition. Mine is alright but i want to get a good idea of what they would've looked like when they were like new. Plus, maybe it is just me, but it seems like 65 is a rare year to see.

Hopefully i can get a lot of pics.

Here are a couple pics of mine.

(yeah, its the same car) haha!

And tell me, can you guys figure out what color the car is from those pictures. I know what it is (well i would hope so haha), but people even see the car in person and can't tell.

    thanks

please post some pictures still if you havent and want too. i love seeing any old cars. Even if it isnt an electra still post pics if you have a sweet ride. Wait, we are on v8buick, all the rides are sweet here! haha!

    thanks,

    You're right...I don't recall seeing anyone here with a 65 Electra. Bill Stacy of BuickStreet.com has a 66...with a dual quad setup.

I should get one soon (a '65 parts car) as it has a posi axle.

I can't open the pics of your Electra. Is the link still working?

Here are two videos of my almost '65 Electra (a Canadian hybrid Wildcat with Electra 225 interior trim). I did them for someone on another forum that wanted to see a video of a 66 Riviera speedo while accelerating as he has the intention to buy one!

I should replace my speedo cable with the n.o.s. one I got on eBay two years ago but I don't find it... Does your '65 speedo needle bounces like that too?

Sorry I do not have a 65' to post, but here are a few photos of my old 72' Electra 225 Custom I sold about 4 years ago. I very much regret selling it. The car below it (73' Grand Ville) is what I "replaced" it with after looking for another local Electra with no luck. The Grand Ville reminds me alot of my old Electra, because of the same basic body style and even color, but it is still not my Electra. :(

I have no idea if the guy I sold it to in Rock Hill, SC still has it or not. We lost contact.

Nice guys. Thanks a lot for the posts. I love seeing the old buicks. All the stuff i see here looks great too.

In my electra the speedo bounces but not nearly that much. that one in that video really bounces a lot. haha. Mine only bounces around between like 0-10 mph, and after that it pretty much settles down. My 83 chevy truck though... thats a whole other story. that thing goes crazy all the time. haha!

Well, since you couldnt get the links to work, check out this website of my brothers, its where all the pics and vids of my 65 are. My brother also has some footage of the Bob Motz jet truck and other events at Beaver Springs Dragway in PA. I think you guys will like his 71 skylark with the 455 bore out to a 464 makin 597 horse. (which sadly the engine no longer is with us, it got sold to a guy in alaska that is on this forum who has a nice wagon)

I hope you guys take some time to check it out and have fun doing so. I'd like to hears some feedback of what you guys think. Because i took a LOT of the pics and vids on this site.

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH........... i just figured out, whilst previewing this post and checking the link, that the website is not working right now. if you wait a couple days and check the site again i'm sure it will work fine.

I just bought a 1965 Electra 225 Custom 2 dr hardtop for parts, mainly for it's posi rear axle.

It's frame is in very bad shape and half of the grille is missing but it seems that some body parts are still good. I'll take pics of it later...

I wish it had A/C so I could install it in my Wildcat but like most cars of this vintage that were sold around here, it lacks it.

It has a black all vinyl interior that's still in decent shape.

thanks a lot for the pics guys. i love checkin them out. That '67 is freakin awesome! I love that paint on that thing! and the wheels and the... well, pretty much everything. And the '65, that's cool too. i know that you said that its not in the best of shape, but i still love lookin at them! And also, it is amazing how much different the interior looks compared to mine which does have AC. it just makes it look different without those vents. Also, i noticed the seat belt buckles were different too. Mine are the chrome metal ones and the ones in that pic looked different.

is that '65 also dark green on the outside like mine is or is it black? sometimes it is hard to tell when the paint gets old. people still mistake mine for black.

thanks a lot guys and keep the pics comin!

It's exterior color is dark blue metallic. The interior is black all vinyl. The body panels aren't in bad condition for a northeast car, the rear quarters, doors and rocker panels are rust free but the frame has some serious cancer. The front bumper looks much nicer than mine does as it was probably rechromed. It just needs to be straighted a bit on the drier side but that should be fairly easy. The dashpad is also in nice shape so I'll have a spare for mine.

The seatbelts are the standard seatbelts, that's why they have plastic buckles. I thought that this model had Custom seatbelts in standard equipment before I saw those... At least the interior is black in this car so they match the interior color (the standard seat belts are always black). They also had retractors (not those with the plastic housing, those that were found in the accessories catalog). I added them to my Wildcat yesterday.

My '65 Wildcat also has the standard seat belts, they look the same but they miss the "Body by Fisher" logo which was on the Electra's standard seat belts. They were also made in Canada by a different manufacturer.

Another strange thing on this Electra is the tilt steering, the flasher lever is pointing at 9 o'clock like those in 1966 Buicks and it partially hides the speedometer while the lever in my '65 Wildcat points at 8 o'clock like the tilt lever.

    How is yours?

Since I bought this car for it's posi rear end, I looked at the ratio yesterday as I wanted it to have the standard 3.07 ratio. It's got what I wanted! Soon, this Electra will have an open rear end and my Wildcat will have a posi!

Another cool option on this Electra is the signal-seeking radio. I tested it yesterday and it seems to work (but the speaker doesn't). Unfortunately, these radios only had the AM band so I think I'll keep the AM-FM in my Wildcat.

Today I notied that the glove box door on my Electra is different from the one on my Wildcat. Instead of being made of hard plastic, it's made of metal and It's covered with vinyl. Was it an option on all '65 full size Buicks or was it only found on the Electra 225.

Jason, is your glove box door covered with vinyl? How about other '65 Buick owners?

    Phil:

My '65 Cat came with the vinyl covered glove box. I have three other '65 glove boxes from parts cars and all of these are plastic.

I often wondered why the difference myself.

The padded glove box was an option...I'll have to look up the specifics. It may have been part of the "Safety Group" or something. Its a shame getting old and losing one's memory.

Sorry guys, couldn't resist posting another pic I took last night at the beach at dusk. Just finished sorting out some carb issues and I couldn't be happier with the way it's running. BTW, no vinyl on my '67 glove box, and I don't believe it was an option in '67 either.

That is a pretty wicked light setup. Great looking Electra!

EEE I wish they still did use lots of lights on the cars. It seems that you can get away with using a few LEDs in your tail lights instead of 6 or 8 1157 bulbs, haha.

Can't beat the old "light ramp" effect, those are the stock bulbs with a timed exposure to amplify the effect... I think the new Challenger (at least the concept car) has a full width tail light... using LED's of course!
