Hi everyone, I need some help with the trunk floor on my Dad’s 1970 Buick Electra. I dropped the tank on the weekend to start the repairs on the trunk floor. Upon removal I noticed that the body mounts behind the rear fender well are mounted to the under side of the floor. My intention was to user 18 gauge patch panel for the floor but how does the body mount fit under the patch. I have the shop manual info and it appears that a square brace was welded under the floor pan for this purpose. This is the first trunk floor that I have ever done and I am not sure where to start now. I have some questions for the pros out there if they can help me.
    1. should I stay with 18 gauge for the floor patch panel
    2. How thick should the brace be (type of gauge) for the body mount that was under the floor pan?
    3. How was the floor pan connected or welded? Around the rear fender well?

    Thanks

its time to seek professional help. If you do not put this part in properly the body of car will sag and eventually cause other issues with your car.
