i have original deluxe door panels on my 72 gs fremont car. the "GS" emblem is on each door panel maybe 4" from the front edge between the two metal strips. there is old glue on the back of the panel holding the pin in place.
there has been debate as to whether these emblems belong on 72 cars. some have said only on the convertibles. i do not have a definitive answer.

Could you both possibly provide pictures, please? As well as any other emblems inside your GS? I'm piecing a car together so it's hard to know what's supposed to be there...

I can't speak for the '71-'72 models, but here are a couple pictures of how the '70 standard and deluxe door panels were.

The standard door panels were not being reproduced when I bought my interior stuff, so I have the wrong arm rests on the deluxe door panels.

i can do that. the only other emblem per se, is the "buick" emblem that installs in the dash.

    Nice man, thanks!
Is yours silver? I have the silver one but I also have ones that are red and say Buick Motor Division, they don't look like they mount inside though?

    Ricky,
If you have a 72 GS coupe with the deluxe interior your door panels will have a woodgrain section in the middle, and those door panels get NO emblems.

If you have a 72 coupe with the standard interior, or a convertible then it would come with emblems.

    There are 3 different type door panels used on the 72 GS cars;
    1. Deluxe woodgrain door panels (Coupe only)
    2. Standard door panels (Coupe only)
    3. Deluxe non-woodgrain door panels (Convertible only, and the design was shared with the 71 models)
    That's it.

maybe at the factory, someone goofed and installed the deluxe door panels destined for a ragtop. the emblems look classy, anyhow.

the dash emblem is silver lettering on black background.
the red "Buick Motor Division" mount on the front fenders below the GS emblem.

i will post the pictures i took, today, of the interior of my car, tomorrow.

Thanks Duane! I do have the deluxe model. Good to know

Ah, good to know as well. So it has "GS" and "By Buick" below that all on one emblem, and then "Buick Motor Division as a separate emblem under that?

OR...do you mean the side fenders that just have the GS emblem? At first when I read "front fender" I thought you were talking about the grille on the front...

I have a rebuilt engine with TA connecting rods, pistons, Edelbrock manifold intake, not sure what kind of cam, but I have a 3.42 posi...so...is this essentially a Stage-1 because of the 455 and 3.42? Or does it need a certain cam and other things?

the grill gas a separate larger GS emblem, i believe with the "by Buick" on it, about half way down the grill on the driver's side. The trunk lid, lower passenger side, has another "GS" emblem attached to it.

Those GS door panel emblems in the last set of pics aren't anywhere close to being correct, let alone in the correct location. The ones you show are for 1970 only, and should be centered over the arm rests.
