other than the very witty: "Where ever the wife can find it." ..

where do you put the escape door on a 24 foot trailer with a 14 foot long car ? over the fender is cusomary, but that seems pretty far forward.

how would you measure for this ?

    anyone ?

Not being a smart@ss, but I seem to remember Pete having a trailer with a perfectly placed escape door, but I can't remember if that was the trailer that the Indians are using now or his new one? We have one on our stacker, I can put a tape on it if you're interested...

This works well for my 70 Chevelle, not sure about your car, though.

Are you having one built? I want to add one to my existing trailer. Curtis Roys has the ultimate trailer in my opinion. His trailer sides open up and become canopy's. Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every street side door I have seen is always above the axles/fenders. Can you get them put where you need them?? My 19' car would be best suited with a over-the-fender door. Wish I would have ordered that on my trailer. :Dou:

The door in the enclosed trailer that I use was put in years after it was built. It originally was used to haul our sprint car around before becoming a street car hauler.

that is the way I am going to go.

Copo Pete called and offered the same advice: 4x8 canopy door it is. only $100 more than the 5x4 escape door.

Frank, I am following your lead and getting a Storm from John's in Toledo

I was going to say talk to Pete, I love his concession door( Canopy). I've thought of having my trailer cut on and having it that done to it.
One it's cool, but biggest I couldn't get out as I got fatter !!!!! Pete I know your lurking- how big is your door?

The Roy's trailer the whole sides go up. It looks like a protable stage when its set up. I love that wide open with lots of sun and rain protection

When I ordered my trailer, I gave the dealer the measurement of the bottom of the drivers door of the car to ground level. I then subtracted a couple of inches for my fat butt being in the car when loading. It was no issue, for Haulmark at least, to place the door to my specifications height-wise and I can open the car door without hitting the bottom of the escape door opening with the car door.

As far as fore and aft, the way stockdragrace said to measure is how I did mine too. Works perfectly.

This is important, I didn't realize how big mine is and the door makes contact. :Dou:

Here ya go............ Notice how the door is built so it clears the tires/fenders. Cool.

the trailer towed very well.... but the truck was a little strained on some of the hills....

wait till the wife finds out I may not have bought enough truck :)

the Vette ran like it always does... qualified at 13.332 ran a 13.31 in the first round and slowed from there.

I had a great time and congrats to Bob Witt who gets a second win over me at Martin :kodak:
