I found some unconnected wires in the engine bay harness. Can anyone identify what this wire is for? And the light bulb next to it?
What year is the car? The engine clearly has the choke thermostat built into the Manifold, but if it's a newer car with an older engine installed, maybe that was for the choke heater? That sort of looks like the type of bulb that goes in the marker lights of the fenders? Do those light up?
It is a 72 car, but has a 69 350 engine that I figured out later on. I even replaced the 455 carb it came with to the correct one. Yes that bulb does light up and the marker lights are already on the fenders. I did get a pair of marker light connectors when I bought the car, as they were missing. That is the only unconnected bulb I found in the engine bay.
Trace it back and figure out where it goes. Same for the bulb. Then you can look on the wiring diagram.
That connector looks like (I think it's called) the switch pitch connector that goes to the side of the transmission. The wire looks a bit dirty, is it pink? I know mine was a pink wire and it came off the engine harness back behind the motor so that it could drop to the drive side of the trans. Here is a thread where I asked about it https://www.v8buick.com/index.php?t...nection-buick-to-pontiac.355379/#post-3039829
Wow that’s exactly what it looks like. My wire is kind of dirty and the color is worn off too (brownish pink) coming off from the back of the motor. Checking from wiring diagram it goes to the transmission. So it is that switch pitch connector. Thanks!
It would be the kickdown switch for the TH400. Switch pitch would be mid 60's ST400. The bulb is a mystery, though.
X2 The bulb may be one of the courtesy lights in the front lower fender. That's the only light in the vicinity that takes that type of bulb.
The connecter is the kickdown detent and timing control module (TCS). (Being a 72 car) Is there a wire that has been clipped off the back of that connector? Some folks confuse the same case connector on auto transmissions thinking it is a Switch Pitch.
