I'm wondering about the sucsess rate with the engine lift plate that you bolt to the manifold in place of the carb. Is this safe on a aluminium manifold? What if the manifold has had a heilacoil? Just wanted some input before I tear anything up:grin: Thanks Clint
my buddy uses one he got from Summit Racing. I talked him into getting it because its convenient and it keeps junk from falling in the hole. He once had an incident with a sheet metal screw, a piston and a head creating a split cylinder wall. My cousin made one for his 89 302 FI from his F-150. He made it from 1/4" plate steel. Not sure about your Heli-coil question. I'd try it cause you have 3 other bolts holding it on, but that's just me. If you're worried about it and want to save $20, just put some bolts in the end of the heads and get a nice piece of chain. That's what I still use, but I'm also too cheap to spend $20.
this come up every now and then but yes its ok. Do a search and you will find more info if you want it.
I used one that we made years ago to just pull my 340 out, they work very well, I think the engine is alot easier to handle being hooked in the center then having a hook across the block front to back.
Eastwood I just used the brand new plate I ordered from Eastwood. I recommend it. $25.00 shipped is what I paid.
Lifted a 440 Chrysler with one this past weekend...with aluminum intake. No problems. Mine is a Summit one as well. Dan
