Hello, everybody, maybe someone here can give me some advice. I have completely overhauled my engine and everything works fine. The only thing that bothers me is that it takes a lot longer to get oil pressure up before I can start. I installed a new oil pump, the adjustable oil pressure regulator and the booster plate from TA Performance. It feels like the oil is running back into the sump and it needs to be sucked back in. Previously the oil pressure was so high after a few turns of the starter that the indicator light was off, now it takes much longer. Once the oil pressure is built up, it is very good and stable. Is it possible that there is something like a check valve somewhere or that it has something to do with the pressure regulator? Maybe somebody already had something similar. Many greetings from Germany Oliver
Oil filter drain back valve. Look into a different brand of filter also. wix filter if it’s available.
When you installed the new pump gears, did you verify gear end clearance? VERY VERY VERY Important! If the clearance is too loose, its going to take longer for the pump to prime (suck oil from the pan)
Hello, guys, thank you very much for the support, i appreciate it. Here in Germany there are very few people who know about Buick engines. I always use oil filters from FRAM, I haven't seen other brands here yet but I will look for them. I also did not know that there is a check valve in the oil filters. when i installed the oil pump i checked all dimensions according to the service manual I did not drill an oil duct or install a larger pick up tube. i will order other oil filters first and see if it improves. if not i will disassemble the oil pump again and measure it. thanks for your help Oliver
