I am trying to verify the numbers on my 70 Stage 1 motor (its in the car). I can read the vin numbers ok but the engine code numbers have so much paint on them that I can't make all of them out. Can anyone tell me the best method to remove enough engine paint so that the engine number stampings can be read? I hate to just start scratching away if there is a better way to remove the paint. Thank you.

  2. its in a purple spray jug, called castrol super clean, I think, its been a while. if theres a way to let it sit there then that paint will come off after 12 hours. I've heard of easy off, let it sit. then theres just paint remover, stinks but works in a hour. dremel and a small wire wheel

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Go to Home Depot and buy a small wood chisel, about 3/8" wide. Works right away.
