The front left half of my block is either not painted or the paint has come off and the bare metal has a rusty color to it. My question is can this part of the block be painted without removing or disassembling the motor and if if can be what tips or suggestions on prepping the area to be painted. Thanks!

  2. I'd crank it up, run until hot, then spray some heavy duty degreaser on it. Let it cool, spray water on it, let that dry. Mask off where you want to paint very well (spray paint will get everywhere; or use can paint), and paint the block. I don't think any sanding/grinding is necessary because of the roughness of the block.

What Joe said. I would also make sure the rest of the engine bay and fenders get covered, you want to isolate the area your painting to avoid overspray

Degrease, clean with Preps All or equivalent, rough up with scotch brite.
Paint the area with a foam brush. This avoids a difficult spray job.
