I have a 65 skylark I'm doing a complete frame off on, I'm strongly considering a 455. Would anyone know what the weight difference would be between a stock 65 iron head, iron intake 300ci & a 455 with an aluminum intake. I'm soon going to decide drop of springs I want and need an idea of engine weight difference.
I would imagine a 455 with an aluminum intake and headers would not really weigh much if any more than a 300 with iron parts and stock manifolds. Thanks guys!!!

When I did my 455 conversion in a 64 Skylark I left the stock springs in (spent all my money on the engine build hehe). My original 300 was the aluminum head and intake job, much lighter then the iron head 300. The 455 that went in had a TA intake and headers and only dropped the front end I'd guess about an inch or so. Never measured but it wasn't much and it didn't seem to effect handling or drivability. Hope that helps.
