Anyone notice Legendary is advertising on FB now, and offering a discount? I can’t find it to post… Patrick
Thats exactly why I bought…signed up with an email thinking there was nothing to lose, and got the email the next day. For reference: 4th of July’s sale was 15% off manufactured items.. the email I got this morning was 20%.
I seem to be hearing or seeing that a lot of products are made poorly or they just don't exist anymore it is sad really. Not like the 80's at all
Almost a year wait for my white 72 convertible interior, not bad for the most part, door panel retainer clip location not correct to my doors. The rear side panel cloth material was not cut with as much overlap on one as the other. Seat covers stretched and fit fairly well for an amateur install. All in all looks much better and the wife is happy. Greatful to be able to buy any parts for these old cars. We will see how well it wears, I have 6 grandchildren that are going to enjoy the top down with their grandmother.
I couldn't agree more. You know what? If you can't conduct business in an efficient manner, maybe it's time to get out of the business. 2 year wait? That's a mind melter. I don't need all kinds of plausible reasons why that might be either, because I don't care. The end result is the same. It's a negative customer experience.
No offense meant whatsoever Norman but therein lies one of the problems. You did all you were able to do. Wait. But that's just another olive branch for Legendary running their business with a substantially lowered bar in every facet of their operation from turnaround time to quality. People just "settle" and that is the only mark they need to meet. I am still dumbfounded that they are essentially the only game in town with interiors for our cars.
If you are in the Massachusetts/northern Rhode Island area, Bob's Auto Upholstery in Bellingham MA will do your car. There will be a bit of a wait until your car will get into the shop, but once it's in, he's fast and does great work. You can call Bob Adams at (508) 473-2478. His street address is 421 Center St. He did the front seat on the Model T and it's perfect.
Ken ya need to understand that I could have paid a local and had a professional job. My choice is to do all my repairs and upgrades myself, then if I'm not happy no one to blame. I agree that the time frame and being charged in advance is not something I'm in favor of. But on the other hand when my shop special orders parts we require payment up front, that way if the customer chooses to not return at least the part is paid for and not setting on our shelf at our expense. As for quality it was as good as or better then what was taken off. Time will actually determine quality of material
In the case of your business, I understand collecting payment up front for a part that is being special ordered but Legendary is not providing anything tangible until the interior sewing and assembly take place. Prior to that, there is no out of pocket expense or risk on their side. That's why I feel a non-refundable deposit to assure the customer's spot "in line" and once assembly is scheduled to begin, they charge the customer for the difference. As it is now, Legendary gets to hold onto the customer's money for the entire amount of the order, interest free, for sometimes up to a year before one seam is even sewed. Not bad for them, for sure. Sucks for consumers though.
I agree 3clicks that part definitely sucks. I think the non-refundable "in line" is a more professional approach.
I know some guys have had issues in quality and most here have voiced their displeasure with paying up front in full for orders that are 35-40 weeks out. I’m excited to get my rallye buckets in May 2024 lol. did you and the family stop in old forge last weekend? Nice meeting you
When I was working spinning wrenches, our shop would request payment up front for parts that we had to special order unless we knew the customer. I would think that this would be standard practice.
I Know Right.. Know someone that waited 4 years to get a car painted then shortly after that the paint job got a bunch of bumps in the paint on the trunk lid and doors and then got told by the people that painted it that it was a "chemical reaction"..that same person took the rear spoiler off the car and to the paint shop to see if the paint could be color matched and was even willing to pay the paint shop to do it. The spoiler sat in the paint shop for 2 years and was ignored until they went and got it back. I bet that person can definitely relate..takes them 4 years to paint a car and this is what you get..
