My sons 69 skylark is suddenly smoking out the exhaust. It also lacks power and had a slight miss so i checked the plugs. They needed to be replaced and a couple were wet with gas.The power has gotten a little better but it still blows gray smoke out the pipes when you throttle it up but not at idle.I have tried to lean it but it still smokes. We did the motor last year-complete rebuild but used a Quadrajet off my buddies 72 gs350.the motor is basically stock except for a .40 overbore,Msd 6 box and Hooker super comp headers with 2/12 flowmasters.I think the carb just needs to be overhauled but can't seem to find anyone around Cleveland that really knows Quads.

I'd start with a compression check/leakdown test. Sounds like it could be a headgasket to me.

Once you figure out what is wrong with your car, and get it fixed. If you still want someone to set up your Quadrajet, send it to John Osborne. He will get it right. Good luck.

    Regards, John. :TU:
