Exhaust manifold outlet size?

    Hi folks, I've got a 71Riv GS that needs a new exhaust system and I was wondering if anyone knows if the manifold outlet is 2 1/4" or 2 1/2". Do you think I would need to order a new coupling for the pipe or do most muffler shops carry a part that will work on the Buick. I would like to have a 2 1/2" system installed; headers will have to come later. Does anyone have a mandrel bent system for these cars yet? Or would it require a custom fabrication?     The manifold outlet is more like 2 inch. Jim Burek

    Thanks for the responce Jim, It sounds like the engine is already choked from the start. I would assume shorty headers might be the way to go from the start. the car is stock by the way. Thanks,...Soren

    Don't get me wrong here, abetter exhaust system will still help. But you asked a bout the out let size. Yes, shorty headers should be of a benenfit to you as well. Jim Burek
