F.A.S.T. race at Norwalk racetrack in Norwalk Ohio, July 17th.

I recommend this race to all Buick Pure Stock and Stock Appearing cars. This is the most fun you can legally have with your clothes on! Even if you car is not dialed in yet, it is a great place to get a ton of time shots, experience truly great traction, (1.8 60fts on Goodyear polyglas tires) and a fun time to hang out and meet people that love fast cars(of all makes), just like you.

Also its a great way to get your car some magazine coverage. Jeff Koch will be taking photos for Hot Rod and other publications. I know, because he will be taking a few more shots of my car for an upcoming tell-all Hot Rod article on my 1972 Black GS Stage1. The Hot Rod article will cover the changes and modifications that I have done to my Stock Appearing car over the last 13 years. It should be good!

There may be a spot of two open due to cancellations, if you want to race or just watch, go to the STOCK APPEARING FORUM and see info. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20321

Keith Egan is signed up to race with his Beautiful Black 1970 Stage1, Fully loaded with A/C and all that good stuff, a solid 12-second car on real street tires. Its amazingly mild mannered, a drive anywhere type car.

Bob Linquist also plans on running his 1970 Stage1 at the FAST race. Bob car ran very low 12 teens at the last event with wiped camshaft lobes. Running on 8 cylinders, this car is capable to take the $200.00 cash prize for running an 11-second ET! With a little more time, I can see this car doing amazing things. For those that are new or dont remember, Bob had another Stock GS that ran the Hemi in round II.

I know there are other fast Buicks in Stock Appearing trim out there that would do well in this FAST racing series. It would be great to have several fast Buicks in attendance and make a strong showing.

If your leery of racing on street tires, dont be, the track is groomed well and very low 1.8 fts are definitely feasible. In fact, If your like me, you will prefer racing on street tires once you get the hang of it. Street tires adds an element of uncertainly to the race series that just doesnt happen with slicks. Even though a car may have a HP advantage, it can be over come with a good Reaction time and 60 ft.

There is no better way to learn how to drive on street tires than actually running at one of the FAST events. With a max. of 30 cars, there will be plenty of time for test & tune.

Contact me if your interested if going to the July 17th race in Norwalk, there are still a few spots available. Norwalk is a real nice track and the track is incredibly sticky. The management understands that this is a street tire event and stay on top of the track all day.
