my favorite combo of the day, nothing like watching a 427 4 speed Impala giving a LT-1 vette all it can handle and a lil bit more.
Wow.... Looke cold there. The sun shone all day here. Got a lot of corn planted. Really wish I could have made it, cause the tail wind looked awsome! Peter
Cold? Wet? Windy? Was wondering where you were Pete! That tail wind was more of a cross wind if anything else. We sat in the hotel lobby until it finally quit raining HARD until about 9:30-10:00am. Those pit pictures that Greg took were shot later in the day after the wind finally dried up all the in-land lakes in the pits. They couldn't use some of the access roads due to flooding. We'll be getting the times and pictures up either later today or tomorrow. A surprising number of guys broke! OR just couldn't get the cars sorted in time. Mikey dropped out of the rounds, Steve Hodges couldn't get all this 6 barrels to work, Scott Pennington broke an axle, and Brian Stefina cracked his 427! All guys seemed to be "fightin' it" this early in the season. Terry took top honors over Joel with a11.27 over Joel's 11.34. Top Small Block went to Tom Cannon's 340-6 T/A with a 11.79 @ 119.32. Wayne Nelson's F/S L-88 was looking strong running a best of 11.74!!!! Look out for Wayne at the PureStock races!!!! Did I mention it was c-c-c-old and windy???
Great, thanks for the pictures! I wish they held one of these events closer to me, I'd love to see some of these cars in person.
I`ve got a few pics to post later. A little side note,as we loaded Pats Firebird[[orange 69 RAIV]] into the trailer at 10 pm Thur nite, the moter ONLY had 5 min of run time on it.[he just recieved the engine Wed nite at 10 pm from the machine shop]We bolted on the hood and other parts as he was in the shower, getting ready to leave,we changed the "break in" oil at the track in the morning. He ended up with a 12:10@116+,not bad for something breaking up really bad at around 5000 rpm,and 5 mins of run time on it
Actually...........it's always been cracked. I think this time though.....my application processs of the Morroso ceramic seal was flawed. I hope anyway......cause June is coming up fast and I can't see the block being changed out by then.
Nice Pics Greg They all have my butt in em though. :moonu: That'd be me down by the fence in the red sweatshirt. Great to have some shots from higher up. That one of the pits is sweet, didn't think of that, or I would have shot one from there. ou: Thanks for sharing. :TU: Jon
Let me know if I can help at all. It's not like you need more work right now. I can sweep, cook, take empty cans back for deposit to create more space in the garage........:eek2: .....................
The pics would be great if you get time to post them Keith. Thanks for the skinny on Pat's car. I didn't know he had a new motor cookin' over the winter. Looks real promising! :TU: Greg, thanks for taking the time to post your pics! :Comp:
