Factory Screw Question

    I've found both coarse thread and fine thread bolts on all of the cars i've ever worked on/taken apart.i guess it would depend on what the line workers had at the time.

    If you guys really want to drive yourself crazy then why don't you start a new thread about body screws.

    You would need to list it by year, make, and production plant. Plus you would have to verify the parts on your car are correct by date codes before assuming everything is correct. (What if 1 fender was replaced on an otherwise original car, that would sure "screw" everything up wouldn't it.)

    That should keep everyone busy for a while.

    Yeah--I screwed up and jumped to conclusions and did some comparing last night. On a early 90's purchased NOS Buick front fender it had Fine thread(machine screw vs coarse tapping screw) square nut inserts in it where the radiator support attaches to it (5 spots). On an original installed fender the nut inserts were the opposite---all coarse thread type.
