faster with th400???

    just finished with the rebuild of the th400. swapped out a th350. i drove it tonight and my but dyno says its faster with the th400. anyone else have similar experience? i'm going to island dragway march 5th to find out. hopefully the weather cooperates. :3gears: :3gears: :bglasses:

    I've here guys on the turbobuick boards say that they picked up et when switching to the th400 in there cars which sounds like it should be the other way around.

    Are you using stock torque converters? The 350 Turbo is lighter and has a lower gear ratio in 1st and 2nd. I have seen 350 Turbos knock a couple of 10ths off a set up bracket car using the same stall speed converter and rear end gears. What gear ratio are you running? Maybe you are getting past the power curve quicker with the lower geared 350. The higher geared 400 might feel faster because its staying in the power curve a little longer.     ive always had some horsepower numbers for auto trannies in my head . i read way back in the day that the 400 turbo takes around 34-36 horses and the 350 turbo takes around 24-28 horses to operate . where even the powerglide takes up around 18-22 ? just to compare the c-6 ford is the worst at 42-46 horses to operate . any ones else ever had similar findings ? these numbers were to be with stock converters . -steve
