Even if Stage 2s were allowed, they would more than likely only allow the factory cast iron heads. Buick only made around 75 (?) sets. Stage 2 are probaby worth around 6-7k for a set- if you can find a pair. Then you have to port them. I dont know if I would risk racing a set. It wouldnt be worth it if they got damaged.
Stage 2 heads (like aluminum heads) are not allowed. If they weren't installed at the factory, its a no no. Patrick
Jason, I have a set of cast iron Stage IIs on my 464, in a 65 lark. They flow around 310 and were heavely ported by a very respected member of this club. I've had some mighty hugh offers on purchasing them.....just waiting until someone comes up with enough money so I can run out and by a cad. LOL Actually it's just the idea of having something original on the engine and not an after market add on.
Stage II Yes, But Q-jet? Stage II package included the Edelbrock B4B, Holley 850, headers, and heads with improved exhaust flow. WOW. Not sure about open air cleaner. The q-jet and iron intake and iron exhausts are hurting volumetric efficiency comming in and going out. A full factory correct Stage II package would add 100 plus HP, yea?
Gs/Hemy shootout I talked to Greg after he won the F.A.S.T. shotout in E-tonw.He did not go into details, but I undestood that it would have been too costly for anybody to prepare a car to run for one event.I think that JR did an outstaing job with the time he had and money that it cost him.I would propose the next time maybe we should all chip in and help those guy's out.Watching and commenting after it's done it's easy, getting involved is the hard part.Love that car JR.BrunoD.
I may be wrong but I believe the "actual" head and block castings used by the Dudek Hemi are of recent vintage and came across the parts counter...not from under the hood of some forlorn Mopar. (kinda like the Stage 2 Buick heads were offered back in the day) If only Buick would have installed them on the line...Nahhh then we wouldn't have anything to bench race about.
Thanks Bruno! I very much appreciate it. Compliments are what makes it worthwhile to me anyways. ITS NOT TOO LATE. ALL DONATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED!
I gave at the office... LOL Jim Let me know when we are able to get out and do some tuning on that beast. I would like to be involved and help some more. Mike
Or 2. If you stay where you usually do, I will meet up with you in the parking lot one night for a "beverage" and some benchracing. Like every year.
I had lunch with Jack today. He starts tuning in Feb. He said we are welcome to run all day, every day he has the track, free of charge. :TU:
Hey LJ, I came thru Bruns about 12 last night. The fox is in the henhouse! Started to drop in on you and the wife, but thought better of it. How about my "blue screen of death"? ou:
Jim, Your motor made some impressive numbers on the dyno! One question for you, was the motor dynoed with headers or your manifolds ? Thanks
Thanks. Both. The manifolds cost exactly 34 horsepower with this combo compared to headers. A new converter is on the way and should pick it up to where it should be.
Thanks Jim. My current project will be similar to yours. The car is apart and waiting for a spot at Autokraft for some fresh paint. I'm doing a full frame off so it will probably be a good year before its completed but work has already begun. If all goes as planned we should be easily in the 10's with Manifolds and a fairly stock 3,900 lb "appearance". I'm anxious to hear how your car performs this summer so keep us posted! It's a beautiful car!
