What are the nameplates supposed to look like? It appears that they are painted black (maybe a matte finish?) with only the top surfacee showing the chrome. I was thinking I could paint the entire part and then wipe off the fresh paint on a thin rag soaked in lacquer thinner spread on a flat surface. Is that the correct finish? Is that a reasonable way to acoomplish it?
Chuck that is what I usually do. Painting the chrome part with a small brush with rubber cement on it then spraying with paint then scrape of the cement works too. I have tried both. I believe the black was on the flatish side or maybe a fairly flat satin. Experiment, no one will question the shade of black.
