Hi y'all, I haven't been very active on this board in the last few years, but you might remember my Brown 71 Riv. Well, it is no longer brown. Its not all together yet, but here is the front end. I won't have it all together for a couple more weeks, but I couldn't wait to show it to the people that would most appreciate it. I had the paint and body done by a pro. I worked on the trim. And if your wondering, it took me 8 hours to paint that grill ou:
Thanks for the complements. I'll post some more pics in a couple weeks. I need to get the rest of the chrome on it. Also the hood needs to be repainted because it came out a different shade. I'll post more pics when its done.
I got all the chrome back on, but I haven't had enough sun to get a decent picture. Plus, I got rained on when I drove it home from my folks house where I was working on it. I didn't have windshield wipers attached yet! Luckily I made it home safely. I took it by the 2nd owners house. He bought it when it was 2 years old and took care of it for 24 years before I bought it from him. I bought it when I was 19 and he was a little hesitant to sell it to me because of my age. He's close to 90 now but he was really happy to see that the "kid" he sold it to is taking good care of it. He'd be embarrassed if he knew I put this picture of him on the net.
Car looks beautifiul! You probably made the ex-owners day.I'm always looking for good body/paint guys for mine and my bro's Buicks. Was it a local shop that you can share the info.from? Great job, enjoy the compliments
I took it to a guy that paints from his garage. This is his last paint job. He is only doing body work from now on because his lungs are giving him problems. I could probably find you a good reference to a paint/body guy. Do you ever go to "Flames" restaurant on Canoga and Plummer in the valley? They have a car show every Friday night and I have connections there. It might get rained out this week, but let me know if you want to go next week. I hope to have my car done by then.
Tom is your tail pipe painted? If so paint it silver instead of that overspray color. Still looks good thou!
