I went with a few friends to Maple Grove Raceway today to get some passes during the Nostalgia drags. I drove 62 miles while they trailered.

First pass after about an hour cool down from the ride, 275 60 15 Mickey ET drag radials at 22 psi. Its been over 8 years since I've been down the track and first time with this car. … and left super early ;)

    12.3 @ 108.

Second pass was a 12.4 @108. On that one I was racing a buddy with a nasty 55 Chevy with a 427 and 4 speed. Barely beat him, and had a great time doing it :)

After it was over, aired the tires to 25psi …. got more fuel … and rolled back home.

Both passes I put it in D and just let it eat.

Looking forward to some cooler weather to try it again.

I'll try to attach the time slips.

You got the plate to shift manually, so get out and get that 11´s pass :)

There is some improvement to be had in the 60ft,..you should be capable of some fairly low 1.60s based on your mph. Low 12s is rite where a reliable worry free GS should be imo congratulations

    Thanks guys.

First pass I launched at 1800 .... couldn’t hold it any higher with a foot brake.

I didn’t watch the 1-2 shift rpm but the recall put it at 5,800. The 2-3 went at 5300-5400.

I need to figure out a good launch rpm to lower the 60.

Any suggestions on launching and adjusting the shift are welcome.

Leave from a high idle let the converter flash

You need a rear spoiler with that hood scoop

    Any other Buicks there?

AS stated leave from a slightly higher RPM than an idle. Something like 800-900 RPM's. This way the converter will "Flash" as mentioned & IF you have traction to some degree will make your 60' better which will decrease your ET by almost/or double. Which means IF you can get the 60' to a 1.6 the ET should drop 1 1/2 to 2 tenths. Your doing OK on the 1/8th. because you are doing the 20MPH between the 1/8th. & 1/4.

    I appreciate the feedback.

Hugger and Telriv - I'll try flashing it the next time. That explains the longer 60' on the 2nd run as I brought the rpm's up higher than the first run.

Benny K81 - I do like the look of the GSX spoilers …. but gonna leave this one alone. I have the original hood …. and the rest of the car is original paint and body.

BQUICK - I didn't see any other Buicks …. at least not in my class of Nostalgia 3, which was 11.50-119.00. Plus there were hardly any full weight street cars there. Most were trailered race cars.

Cecil isn't too far either … maybe I'll make a ride down there a day too.

We will be there. Bring "Goldilocks" with you. I gave her that nickname many years ago.

Gary - I’ll check my work schedule when I go back on Wednesday. If I’m off, I’m coming.

Phillip66 - the car is Cortez gold.

GS Kubisch - were you the owner previous to Gary?
