Any assistance is appreciated. Interested in placement of a 1970 GS grill on my 1971 Skylark. My '71 front bumper is unserviceable and will be repalced. My question, would a '70 bumper assembly bolt directly to the '71 frame? If so, I can buy the '70 bumper and grill. Also, are the '70 Skylark and GS grills and bumpers interchangeable with the '71 Skylark and GS grills and bumpers? The '70 and '71 GS grills are different. The '71 GS grill extends downward in two separated sections; and the '70 does not.
70 will fit on the 71 but you have to change everything to 70 in order for it to fit proper and look good, you would need to replace the hood lip to 70, the headlight bezels to 70, the front bumper brackets and braces would need to be 70. Would probably be cheaper to find a good 71 bumper. I may have missed a few things but those would be your basics.
x2 the 70 front trim (bumper, brackets, turn signals, grill, stainless trim on the grill, headlight bezels, and hood lip) are specific to 70 It just wont look right or line up if you mingle different parts.
Also a 70 GS grille will not clear the 71 bumper on the sides where the j mold attaches and will have to be cut in that area.
I have a 71 hood with the proper lip and chrome, also have a 71 Grille in fair/average shape and 71 Headlight bezels. I am restoring a 1970 Lark, and recieved these parts when I bought the car. I am going to keep my 70 all 70, so I am looking for a 70 grille and headlite bezels as well as the hoodlip and chrome. Perhaps we can work something out. I`ll edit with pics of grille shortly. PM me if interested, TY JIM/Rott
