Don, I was watching this video online of the Flashlight Drags -- wondering if that's your Sportwagon at the 2:55 mark in the video? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-661131557382443766 I might see if we can get this kind of racing up here in my neck of the woods. Our local airport is in the perfect place, and only 10 minutes from my parent's house!
Yeah,I think there was a glimpse of it there. Dude......you have got to get this kind of racing near you. I love to race bran new mustang GT's ..and I do win a few :Brow: Thanks for posting that it was fun for me to watch. I know of a grudge match brewing for this years flashlight drags ...My nephew Corey in his WRX wants some action with my buddy Joe Kelsch,71 skylark- They think that's the car to beat. Glen ,there are plenty of real 8 sec. street legal cars running around this area. If you get one organized they will come!
Awesome, I didn't think there were too many blue Sportwagons that race around your area! :TU: I enjoyed watching that, too. Yeah, I sent an email off to the organizers of the Flashlight Drags earlier today asking what kind of financial, logistic, administrative challenges and procedures there are to set something like this up. There is actually quite a big underground street race scene here in the Niagara Region, and I'm positive -- just as you are -- that if something like this was organized, they would come out! I might have to arrange to make a trip down there this summer, and perhaps all you PGH/Eastern OH guys and I can hit up one of these events! Dan, Zelienople isn't too far from you, is it? I know I pass an exit sign for it on my way down to your place.
You have WRX's trying to race you too?:spank: I have three guys with those at work. They are going to get a wakeup come summer.:bglasses:
Its only 20 minutes from me. I've raced there several times and hope to again if I ever get a quick car. Some nice and very fast cars show up there. They had to cut the hours due to citizens whining, so sometimes I can't make it in time. Used to be they'ed race into the night. Those were the best ones.
That would've probably made it feel more like a real street race scene. Too bad... Oh, and hey! -- I got a new job this week that requires me to do some travelling, so the LeSabre should be on the road again in a couple of weeks! I'm pumped! :TU:
They are just for fun, and great fun. There are always a lot of cars racing and showing. You can race as many times as you want against anyone you want. There are no timers and they start the races using a flash light. Check out the link. http://www.alteredgas.com/ Dave
the drags are just a few miles from my house I can hear them on a quiet night running down the airport strip too bad they dont run later into the night anymore
I actualy never been to one, nor ever race my car atthe track(just fun races on the hiways with stupid ricers or my buddy) so i plan to come up zili is like 30 mins or so from me hopefully the'll be alot of guys that run 14.5 and slower that's what i'll be expecting to run
Yeah, I can't wait to race that WRX. BTW...the motor swap may happen in April, so Corey better bring his A game. Also, the Clarion Flashlight drags are only 8 miles from me. I try to go to them, but I always wind up working or forgetting.
