I had this on my `65 Skylark for a couple years. I never had a cooling problem but my theory was that an electric fan would pull more air through the a/c condenser in slow traffic down here in this extreme heat and humidity in the summer. Sounded good but it really wasn't very effective for that, probably because it was too far away from the condenser. It did cool the car just fine but I switched back to the stock clutch fan and shroud. It's a little dusty but otherwise in excellent condition. I attached some pics including one when it was installed in the car. I'll take $150 for it plus shipping. Here are the specifics: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-180
It has a temperature control that you can adjust to come on and off at your choosing. It operates off a probe that inserts into the radiator fins but I never used it because it wasn't accurate enough for me. I always suspected it was because my aluminum radiator was too efficient. I had one years ago in a Jeep that I inserted the probe into the radiator hose and it worked great, I was tempted to do the same with this one but instead I bought a temp sender, put it in a water jacket and wired it to that. The control is mounted to the shroud and has a dial on it.
Doe that nifty little bracket come with to attch the shroud to the upper radiator hold down? This is real tempting. Brian
Yes it does. I made that upper bracket and modified the lower on to go in my `65. Everything fit perfectly and it all goes with it. A nice feature with this shroud is it has a seal around the front that fits nicely against the radiator so no air gets in around it.
