The float on my qjet keeps getting stuck and is flooding the carb..i need to replace it...i got the top off a new float and im just stuck here staring at it...anyone have some detailed instructions or a link on how to replace it...i dont really feel like paying 200 bucks for someone else to do it.

You need to at least replace the needle and seat while you are in there.

Look real closely to how the current float is in the bowl. Should be able to lift it out by the curved bar that holds it in place. Needle should be hooked over the metal end of float. Hook the needle on the end of the new float, put the bar in that holds it in place, and lower it back in. Check the float level with the gauge by pressing the metal end of float down until needle is against the seat. Measure float level on other end.

good luck. Hope this helps some.

Don't forget to bend open the curved bar some, so that when you re-install the carb top (air horn) the top presses the bar securely into it's seat in the main body casting.

Dont be surprised if you have to double up on the air horn gaskets on re-assembly. Sometimes its the only way to solve a vacuum leak there.

Id just buy a $20 rebuild kit for all the gaskets, change needle n seat, junk stock replacement float and hit NAPA and get the $15 brass float.

You shouldnt attempt a carb rebuild if youve never done one before. I would suggest having someone who's done one before at least help you out on the first one. There's lots of small parts, check balls and springs. Its a bit tricky to get it all back together the right way.

I would suggest bringing the carburetor to a rebuilder. They can also check and if nessesary re-bush the throttle shafts.

Though you need the numbers off your carb to make sure you get the right one and you could of been looking at holley rebuild kits, they cost much more and are listed too when you look up carb kits.
