Are fly wheels and flex plates the same thing?
Are the chevy 350 fly wheels and flex plates the same as a Buick's 350?

No and no.... Flywheels are for standard transmission, and flexplates are for automatic transmissions.

Most engines have their own flexplates. What are you trying to do?

they're saying that flexplate for my car wont be in till tomrrow and i already have a brand new gm 350 flexplate that looks almost identical..
just curious if it'll work with a buick 350 is all.. theres a few extra holes on the gm replacement thats why i ask..

The 350 Buick flexplate is a unique animal, the only GM engines that use it are the Buick 300, 340 and 350 if I remember correctly. If the part they have is for your 350 Buick, it will have the same crankshaft bolt pattern, same number of ring gear teeth and the same outside diameter as the one that is on the car now. Oh yeah, the torque converter holes need to match as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if a replacement flexplate has additional holes present for the torque converter mounting to accomodate different applications. Maybe if you can post some pictures we can help more.
