I wonder if you could find a good deal on a used gear vendors overdrive for that ford Dually? It might be less hassle than a manual trans swap??

So I don't need to bring a truck...Just Uber to your place, buy your truck, and we'll load 'er up with parts! But only if it's a 5-sp. (I see now its an auto - so much for that grand plan). I don't think six speeds came out until y2k? I bought my 96 SRW 5-sp. 12 valve Cummins new, then a leftover 99 dually 24V auto. that I got a great deal on, but Didn't like the auto. What the heck are you supposed to do? Just sit there? I was bored and it never seemed to know what gear it wanted to be in. It was fast though (4.10's). I hear the new Aisin is awesome. Didn't put a dime down & Sold it a year later for the loan balance & bought a 92 F-250 7.3 5-sp which I still own (286k mi) & love driving, but had a few other Dodges in between too. I have a feeling the trans. in my Ford may be starting to go, but I don't feel it owes me anything. Do you go on TDR's site or subscribe? I know them reasonably well and we used to advertise in the magazine. (Sorry, don't mean to hijack the OP's thread)

I am sort of leaning that direction. If ya spot one let me know. 3K for new is out of the question.
