Since I no longer subscribe to (take, for my Southern friends ) Car and Driver, Im not as up on new cars as Id like to be.
Is the Ford Five Hundred a modified Taurus, or is it really an all new car?

[sarcasm] Dang, Five Hundred is like two hundred more than Three Hundred! Im gonna buy on of them! [/sarcasm] (thanks, Truzi!)

I believe it's an all new chassis uses a different V6 than the Taurus (could be wrong) and the tranny is a CVT. I kind of like it but I always liked the Crown Vic too.

The Ford Five Hundred is a different car from the Taurus and doesn't share anything with it. I do believe it uses a CVT transmission and also has 4 wheel drive as an available option. Looks like a nice car.

If you want to see a rebagged taurus look at the jaguar. I found that one a mustang board lol

The CVT is only available with the AWD version. Front wheel drive uses a (more or less) traditional transmission. The car is very quiet and handles nice. Lots of room!
