It looks like Ford in getting in to big a hurry to get items to market. I have nothing against Ford but there are a large number of post on another board about all the recalls they made on the diesel motors when brought out new ones. But then GM did the same with the Duramax.

But then it maybe there has always been this number of recalls, it's just you see it more because of the media.

OK, so tell me! What's wrong with my Duramax? I have to agree that the www is a great source of info but you have to carefully weed through it!

The problem is that if you don't own the product, you never really get to hear the truth! I've heard everything on the Ford 6.0 diesel from eating turbos to breaking cranks? Now everyone is talking about the Duramax being destined for injector failure!

There is also the problem of TOO much information! I'm sure with proper care, my truck will go 300k miles but from reading the one truck board I'm on a lot, you'd think I need an oil sample at every change, a secondary fuel filter for $250, fuel addative in every tank, etc. etc. etc.

Nothing now, but when they first came out they were having a problem keeping the heads on some of them. Now the problem is fixed. Like I said either the companies are rushing out ther product to fast or were just getting a lot more information.

I have heard that they rely on a lot of computer simulation, rather than real world product testing in a lot of the new designs and that could be the cause of some of the problems??

I think a lot of it is just new design too and not enough prototype work. Not too often I don't do something better the second time than I did the first!

I wish GM would recall my "diesel" vortec 8.2 litre in my '02 Avalanche. Can you say piston slap? It sounds like a diesel when started- especially in this colder weather. Goes away after a minute or two. It runs fine, has tons of power, and GM sez it won't cause excessive wear (piston slightly too small for bore). I hope they're right! :(

Anyway, I'll take one of them GT40 recall-mobiles! I'll also take an '05 Mustang!
