Today my stepdad(BignastyGS) and I were removing the interior from the 70 skylark custom we have and found the build sheet under the back seat. But the real funny thing is we found the one that belonged in the car and also a SS chevy Elcamino as far as we can tell build sheet folded right with the SKylark Custom sheet. If you look the number in the upper left of the sheet the numbers are off only by one. Did this Skylark come down the line right after this SS Elcamino 4 speed. I wish I knew the place to post this sheet maybe somebody doesnt have it for this car and would like to. Is this kinda a rare car? I am not a Chevy man but would like someone to tell me if this is a Elcamino. I checked it out in Year one and its says 2 door Sedan pick-up. Just thought I would share with everyone. I did not realize that this cars came down the line all mixed up like this.
Yeah.....that's an L78 (375HP solid lifter) 396", with M21 4spd and 3.55 posi. Nice package!!:TU: You might post over at Team Chevelle and Chevy Talk.
When I was a little squirt, my uncle had a '69 SS Chevelle with the L78/M-22/4.11 rear. That car was a real kick in the pants!!:TU: :bglasses:
I'd have to agree with you Scott, my dad had a 70 SS Chevelle L-78/M-21/3.73,he put 4.88's in later on. O.M.G.:3gears: wish I could have that one back. I see the El Camino's V.I.N. is 120190, my father's was 128004, I wonder how far apart date - wise that would be?
WOW, that is pretty weird, as my '70 Skylark, now race car built in Kansas City also had a build sheet for a El Camino with the correct one on the fuel tank, and I think Duane has a copy, and it went to Canada and was a 4 speed! This very interesting. RV
I don't know if you are going to believe this but... The Kansas build car in front of my 70 Skylark convertible was a 1970 El Camino. I got the build sheet for it with mine in the back seat springs. My theory is that when they went to put the sheet in the back seat of the El Camino they of course found out there was no back seat. They just dumped them off in our Skylarks. Amazing what you find after 34 years, isn't it.
I just had a photocopy of the Elcamino sheet. I didn't scan the original before I put it in the safe deposit box with the rest of my paperwork.
What do you want to bet there'd be some pretty serisouly happy ElCamino owners willing to get their hands on their build sheets ?!?!?!? Especailly something as rare as that L78 one Of course you could always sell them the build sheet, but I think something else would be alot better..... .....Like agreeing to GIVE it to them, as long as they FOREVER drive around with a bumpersticker that reads "Buick Stage1's can beat an LS6 Chevelle Any Day of the WEEK"
Alan, I went to Team Chevelle and El Camino central and posted our find.I offered to give the buildsheet if they could provide proof that they indeed own this car. But,now that I seen that post,I believe that the best thing for all may be the bumper sticker.Oh, we found the piece of a fourth buildsheet on the inside of the driver fender this afternoon too. What a real interesting find.
