Beginning my frame restoration, but before I do...doing a bit of research? Do the Buick frames have numbers on the rear LH side just as the Chevelles do? I was told that this frame is either a 1971 or 72?

What is with tube on the RH Side, appears to be a vent? Could be this a California frame? Appears factory?

Is this where the frame numbers exist on a Buick frame?

    More frame pics....

Yes, the picture of the left rear section of frame is where the manufacturer's part number should be. Is that frame from a 71/72 350 car with A/C? That is what that vent pipe is; it goes to the vent on the fuel pump back to the fuel tank. Not specific to California cars though.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

The two fuel lines on the driver's side are source and return.

The line on the right frame rail is your EEC....runs from the evap cannister behind rear seat upper cushion to the charcoal purge cannister.....all 71-up models have that set-up.

The left frame rail behind the rear tire has the frame numbers....I have this info on our site.

    Dan,

That frame looks like it was from a 70 model based on the brass type brake distribution valve and the 8.2 rear end. You are correct, it looks like a California car since it has the emission line on the RH side.

Hope that you are doing well.

    Hi James,

Thanks James... all is well, and I hope your doing well yourself.

That is exactly what I was thinking, this frame had California emissions....I will post back my findings when once I source out the frame numbers.

I`m sure you`ll be attending the Mecum in Dallas this coming weekend. I see your friend Jeff is bringing his beautiful Seamist Green 1970 GS Stage1

Sorry I disagree about the brake dist valve. All my 72's with power drums have that valve. Disc used a different valve. If you look on the pass side pass door area on the very top of the frame there should be a VIN number

    John,

You are correct. The frame is a 1971

The frame VIN is 1H169475... this VIN was located to the drivers side pass the door on the top frame rail.

I didn't realize it was a drum brake car. I saw the 8.2, then the valve and assumed it was a 70.

Yes Dan, I will be at Mecum this weekend. It looks like there will be at least four Stage 1's going up on the block but not sure if any will sell or not. Two 70 4 speeds, a 70 GSX, and a 71 convertible are listed on the website.

    Dave,

Thanks for the pic, I believe the numbers are there I just have to get some paint remover and expose them.

I will post pics once I do.

I used this distrubution valve with the disc brakes on the wifes 72 Suncoupe and it works fine originallty a power drum car. We have been driving the car for 22 years with that valve:)

Dan, don't lose those 2 clips that hold the brake and vapor line on the engine crossmember. They are unique to 71-72 and no one makes them.
