If you find a candidate for rechrome try AIH thats who Kliner uses. I will be using them on the next one I do.

NOS 70 GS molding is rarer than chicken lips dude. 70 stuff is getting outrageous

Here's my old ad...still have this for sale and really have no need for it as I have the original that I had rechromed.

There seems to be a general agreement that the 72 GS could have used either version of the hood chromes for that year. The one in the link below or the one more commonly found on Skylarks for that year.

    Thanks

I will have to disagree about the GS using either . The one you linked to is for GS or skylark with plastic grille. Have you seen a GS with correct grille and the flat nose piece? It doesn't fit to the grille corrrectly. The flat one is supposed to be used with that metal grille in the Custom. I have had so many of these cars and several of the flat nose pieces and I tried to make it lok presentable and ended up bying a correct one off ebay

Does anyone know why there are 2 different types of the rolled down ones ?
both have a lip under and behind center to lift the hood only 1 has it all the way across the lower lip the other is lighter and has a 8-10 lip in the middle only?

I had a little article about this in the buildsheet a while back, it has do with the build date of the car as far as I can see...the earlier 72 cars had the thin headlight bezels but the heavier hood molding and the later cars had the heavier bezels but the lighter hood molding. Cutoff looks to be about Nov 71 build date. Can't 100% confirm due to not having parts from every factory/every month but the three I did show this, plus had input from others as well. Part numbers are the same for both styles.

Scroll about half way down page(hope you're not on dialup!!LOL):

Tuff one, been there!!! I bought a good core for $200.00 then another $300.00 the replate it. If you find a good core I have a good source for excellent plating, AL.
