Neighbor started running 50-50 fuel oil and home made bio-diesel in his 2000 Chev. He has a commercial account for the fuel oil (rental properties) and figures the biodiesel is costing him $.56 per gallon. So far only problem is a plugged fuel filter (twice) in the last 6 months. Thinks it's because of the detergents in the methanol cleaning out the system. Happened right away and has been fine since. He's working on better flitration in his process to clean it up even more.

Makes you wonder, especially with the advent of the new diesel fuel that will eat up our older diesel engines without the additives we'll have to buy. Thanks again, you a$$hole treehuggers and big 3 lobbyists.

$2.43 for regular $2.69 for diesel in KC. As for the race gas, I blend 50/50 91 premium (Yes, that is all we have in KC) and 110 leaded. Still working off of the 10 gallons of good stuff I purchased in Martin for $4/ gallon.

When blending fuels know that Leaded fuels (most race gas sold at gas stations) and unleaded fuels have different specific densitys and will separate over time. There will not be a "complete " mix of the fuels.

I wish that they sold the 110 leaded, but the Gas City near Rt. 66 Raceway is the closest that I could find that has the 110. The 100 unleaded may be fine, but I wanted to try the "good stuff."

Geez Dave. I wish you were more direct. I hate it when you sugar-coat your opinions of people!

Be grateful we're not in Canada. I paid $1.07 per liter of premium over there when I towed to MoparFest in New Hamburg, Ontario. Muliply the per liter cost by 3.62 to get your gallon cost. I spent $250 for fuel for basically eight hours of towing.

    Update:
Just hit $2.25 a gallon here today for regular unleaded.
Heard on the radio this morning that Lexington is getting National attention for having the lowest fuel cost. :Smarty:
I wish they would just leave it at $2.50 a gallon for month and quit playing see-saw with it. Seems like thats all anybody talks about/ :ball:

Over near Toronto, they changed prices THREE TIMES A DAY. Overnight, regular 87 would sell for .82 liter. For the morning rush it went to .93/lt, and for the busiest time of day-the evening rush- it went to .97/lt. :af: :af:
And we complain around here when they jack up the price on Thursday for the upcoming weekend travelers. What a crock.

There is also what they call "quick up-slow down" in the gas profiteering industry. They crank the price up 20 cents immediately after any type of distrubing news out of the Middle East. Regardless if this "news" has ANY affect on oil prices. Then, after there is no real emergency, they slowly dribble the price back down. Gouging us in the meantime.

I recently paid $1.39 / liter for diesel when I was going thru the Yukon Territory to get up here to Alaska. F'in REAL expensive when you are driving 600 miles a day ...... :( Regular unleaded in Fairbanks was right around the $2.70-ish / gallon yesterday.

I don't think the "quick up - slow down" thing is any vast conspiracy -- I think it's just natural market forces. They all start nibbling away at their prices, trying to win business away from their competitors across the street or up the road. It reaches the point where no one's making any money (except on the slurpees and lottery tickets inside the store), so finally someone is bold enough to jack the price way up -- knowing full well that all his competitors will follow suit, because they aren't making money either. Then the whole cycle starts over again.
