I read sometime ago about the fuel pump arm hitting on the timing chain when a double roller set is used . Is this a normal
problem on 350's ? I'm considering a Comp Cams XE268 full kit , and it does come with the Chain and gears . I found out today my 72' has 2.56 Rr. gears, They gotta go ! But even with those the car did go pretty good . It was the first time ever in a Buick I was pretty impressed with the 350 ! It'll be cool to get the original motor rebuilt with a few HP parts .

Well Fall is just about here . Hope you all had a Great Summer .
I'm just hoping the 300 sells this weekend so I can get into the 72' seriously over the winter .
Heading to our local swapmeet tomorrow and Sunday .
Taking the 300 to the Car Corral on Sunday .
Gotta say it Ain't No Fun loading a 455 by yourself . Finally got everything in the truck Friday eve. late .

    Steve,
I know with the 455, if you use the double roller chain there might be some contact with the fuel pump arm. The easiest way around this is to take a file and oval out the mounting holes on the fuel pump, so that you can move the fuel pump foward about a 1/16". Don't know if this is also the case with the 350.

after disassembling my 10 year old 10000 mile engine I found no wear marks on my fuel pump or double row timing chain. Now their was major damage elsewhere that all should look for on their own engine too. My oil pump locked up into the oil filter housing. sheared the pin in my distributor so a no start conditition, remarkably it happened at home. thanks machine shop for that great service. valve springs were broken as damper on springs broke up into seals for a total mess. outer spring ok but rest was gone and oil consumption was maximal. thanks for the quality machine work again. This being said yes there was more but the engine was saved. I will build it myself this time, soon. check everything and hope you have better luck than I did.
