Changing to an in-tank fuel pump setup so I'm swapping out the tank while I'm at it. The old tank had some kind of insulation on the top of it that fell apart when I took it off. I imagine that was to keep the tank from rattling against the bottom of the trunk. Anyone know where to get that insulation piece or what else I could use? Thanks in advance.

OPGI has this for Chevelles--- I'm assuming I could use that if it's the right material.

OPGI didn't have it in stock but I found it at inline tube and they say it's made to go in between the tank and body. One more thing off the list....

Semi-related question :: Any theories on if a tank 'needs' to sit flush to the underside of a trunk pan... or if it would be "OK" to contact on just (4) 1.5-in plastic discs?

My '71 GS had nothing between tank and floor.
