That is an older model. The newer one does so much more. Still, a great price!

This is the older model (as Larry said) that I used to have before this new one came out. It's not as user friendly and doesn't give you a 1/4th of the info the new one does. For 40 bucks, don't get me wrong it's a great tool........ However, If I were to do it again, I'd still anty up the 250.00 bucks for the new one. You don't have to level it out, it gives you your 60ft, 330, basically everything a time slip at the track gives you. Even reaction time HP and Torque...... It's also more accruate, and plugs into your PC so you can compare runs via graphs and ect....... It's really a nice piece and it's flashable, upgradeable as they make changes and improvements.

I guess I sound like a salesman......... It's just a nice cool tool

    Hey Jeff,

My old one was really accurate At the track, it would be with in .1 of a sec (on the fast side) and read about 4 to 5 mph fast. to get a real close reading on the street, make sure the G-tech is Zero'd out as close as you can get it, and you are on Level ground. If it's not flat and straight, your times will vary more than .1 ........

However if your looking for a tuning tool, you can make changes, use the same stretch of road and see if your times improve from the tuning you did.......

The new one is much better for this since it gives you 60ft, 330ft and etc.... you don't have to run a full 1/4 mile to get out put. It's also good for tuning your rear suspention.... say in front of your house :Brow:

I have the older model too. Got it on eBay for like $50, unopened.

So far I've tested it in 3 cars, and on every single one, it was about .2 to .3 slow on ET, but the MPH was about right on.

    (a 13.5 second car, a 15.6 second car, and a 16.2 second car)

2 of the tests were at the race track during time trials too.
(Talk about too many thing to be thinking about at the starting line) :gt: :Dou:

I think it's great. I don't really care that it always reads slow, as long as it's consistently slow it can still help you tune.

i bought one...sure, it's not the higher model, but these still sell for 100+ in summit and jegs, even on sale. should give some good estimates and be slightly more accurate than the 'seat of the pants' testing method, ya know?

Another one to keep your eyes peeled for is the Tazzo.....it didn't need to be leveled, gave you 60 foot times (2.81!!LOL man I need help!) in additon to all the other stuff, could be calibrated to your track, and was generally better quality. They were 159.00 new so about the same price as used G-tech, but nicer.

Just some more info (I have one).

Boy, if you guys knew what I paid for my Vericom years ago. and it comes in about a 4-lb box too! It does have 60 ft, and all of that, but not tremendously user friendly.

Thanks Alan for the heads up on the G-tech... I jumped on the band wagon as well... I am curious to see if my lesabre will break into the 20 sec range... now I just need a 1/4 mile flat back road which isn't easy to find around here... except the local airport...hmmm...

I seem to have different experiences with the GTech... the older model that is..

The ET was off by about 1.5 sec (would say i run 15.1/15.0) when I actually run 13.5 at the track. But, the weird this is, the MPH was bang on, even though almost everyone else i hear has the MPH reading too high.

    Andrew,

When your running, are you on a level road? Are you also getting your G-tech Leveled out???? meaning as close to 00's as possible with the accelaromaters? If your not, that will mess up your results big time.

Thats why i hated my g-tech, always a bitch to level...with the tazzo, no leveling needed and even compensates for slight grades...

I hear you Tim. The new G-Tech doesn't have to be leveled either. Infact it has 6 accellaromaters in it....... You calibrated it to your car stick it on and go.... It's pretty sweet.

Yeah, its neat stuff but a great way to get in trouble as well.....doing 1/4 mile passes on public roads isn't too smart... fun though!:Brow:
