ok guys,i'm going to try to lower my 60ft. times with a purchase of q1a front shocks.i am currently at 1.44-1.46 range now with my cheap gabriel red ryders.what would be a good starting point to set them at?i have a 70 gs,alum head, intake, normal race stuff.car runs 10.60-70.:3gears: ok i'll try to post this again.maybe it was too early in the morning.come on guys,i no some of you race guys use them! thanx, dan
It has to be trial and error on any car, but I would start at full soft on the extension, kind of like to old 90/10 shocks, and adjust from there. You have to remember that alot more goes into 60' times than front shocks. You need tall soft springs like Moroso's, "loose" bushings, plenty of front end travel, and we won't even get into the rear suspension! Your 60' and your ET look like they match pretty well, so I bet that car works pretty well now, unless there's more you're not telling us. What kind of rear suspension do you have? typical MPH? vehicle weight? tire size? converter? trans brake? Alot of variables can alter the optimum shock setting. You may also find yourself changing the shocks based on track conditions. Have fun.
thanx jeff, you've probobly seen my car at a buick event.it's that red/white gsx striped 70 gs.10 inch ati 3800 stall-foot braked.tubular lower rear control arms-adjustable,adjustable uppers dick millers.3.73 gear/spool.moroso small block front springs.full interier/body-3860# with me in it.i no it works pretty good now but i would like to see it i can get more?? mph 125.i'm building a liteweight but won't be done for awhile so r/n/d is all good. thanx, dan
Does the car spin the tires now?if it doesn't the new shocks won't do much,if you want some better 60ft numbers I will bet 4:10 gears would be your best bet good luck.
Some of my oval track buddies have tried the qa1 shocks and have not been pleased with their reliability. Just passing it along.
