For a few months now, we've been trying to find a decent gas tank sender unit or a kit to rebuild our old sender unit, but the sea of generic replacements have us worried. I was curious if you guys had any suggestions? I have a 1969 Buick Wildcat with the canister type sender unit.

Hi, I had the same issue with my 1970 Electra. It had a canister type fuel sender that basically rusted and some of the sender components broke. I searched like crazy for a replacement unit and was unable to find a canister one available. I did managed to source another one from a parts car but it was rusted and no better then what I already had. I did happen to find a replacement sender which is a lever type . Found it a Summit racing and this appears to be as good as it gets. This sending unit is basically for the full sized GM's.

Thank you! Will this type of sender unit allow me to take full advantage of my 24 (I think) gallon tank? From what I've heard getting the larger gas tank was an option.

I haven't yet installed it on my 1970 electra, still working on the trunk floor. It should still work, there are no other choices out there that I can see at this time.

Junkman has a tank with a good sender on the shelf, just don't know if he wants to sell it.

    PM him.

Well I just pulled one off a 1970 Electra, but thank you for the offer.
