Just had the A/C clutch replaced on my 134A converted system. After working fine for a bit system won't engage. No blown fuses, but a check shows no current going to unit (green and black wire conections). Odd thing is that :Do No: :Do No: just the other day system worked fine again then crapped out for the second time. Car has all orginal wiring with no mods. Any ideas???

The selector switch, at the heat/ac controls in the dash, needs to close to direct power to the clutch. My selector switch has an intermittent problem right now. I can wiggle the switch and the clutch will energize. There could also be loose connections there or at blower switch.

Clutch is energized by a switch on the dash heater control panel, switch on the left. Two wire connection point, possible it's come loose?
Electric clutch drive faceplate requires a clearance of 1/32" to 1/16".
Check it's position when switch off, it should move in a bit when switch on & engage the pulley rotating the compressor. No movement make sure you have a good ground to the upper support bracket with the black wire.
Check also the AC harness as it comes from the dash. Connector there as well with a relay.
A chassis manual is money well spent if you have access to one.

There might be a safety switch that won't let it come on if the pressure is too low.:Do No:

Still can't get power to the A/C unit. Any other ideas. Everything looks and test fine.

use a volt meter or a test light and work your way from the fuse to the compressor. Please post what you find. :TU:

12lives Control the controllable, let the rest go

Does the 71 have a fuseible (sp??) link on the clutch circuit? It can blow if there is an overload. Look for it near the compressor.
