I was wondering if anybody can tell me what the glass bottle under the hood of my car is for. Thought it was antifreeze but when I opend it and smelled it, it appears to be alcohol of some sort. Kinda green. Is this some kind of starting fluid? :Do No: :Do No:

    Opticlean...

Actually, both are right, depends on the year and model of vehicle. Mine was (1962 LeSabre) Opticlean. It was to have an alcohol base cleaner in it so it not only cleaned bugs, but also defrosted the snow and ice on the windshield. thats why is was in a seperate bottle. It had alcohol in it unlike the rest of the normal fluid that was in the plastic reservoir. Kind of like an additive in the cold weather... lower freezingpoint. (water freezes @ 32 degrees but with the additive it froze at 20 or more
