I have a 1963 Wildcat convertible and need to find front buckets and rear seat upholstery as well as seat foam. I have found the carpet but not the upholstery for this year. Does anyone know of a source that I can try? Thanks.
You want ACC carpet which you can buy direct from them or by discount from A1 . Legengary and PUI are the only two makers of interiors for Skylarks although many sell their stuff. I suspect no one makes stock 63 Wildcat interiors although there are some real Wildcat experts on this Board that should be able to give you the best info avaiable. I do believe the material itself could be available.
I think it is going to be a hard find as I have yet to find a place for a pre-made seat upholstery. I found Fryer's Auto Upholstery and they have material but not the premade patterns. Maybe a good shop can just take the material and make a new seat pattern?
SMS auto fabrics had the exact upholstery for my '64 Cat. They do want $75/yd for the fabric though. :eek2: http://www.smsautofabrics.com/
Try Clark's Corvair Parts in Mass. They make pre made upholstery kits for Rivs & could be that the Rivs are a close match.
See my other post Found a place in Mass. that has patterns for a 56 so should have for yours. They have a web site I gave. Also have a phone number 800-423-6053. Autocraft Think I will order some. Worth a shot. $250 instead of $1000 by local shop. Roger
First of all, Autocraft sells seat covers, not replacement upholstery. They do not make their own stuff, they sell other manufacturers items. Warrantee and returns are a nightmare. Avoid them at all costs. Fryer's has a pattern for a 62 Wildcat/Invicta which is the same size as the 63 Wildcat. They should be able to make the 63 upholstery. Their website is www.autoupholsterykits.com and they advertize upholstery kits for any car. You have nothing to lose by asking them, and they do an excellent job. My upholstery was made by them for my 62 Invicta convertible and it is excellent!
Not autocrafters? Actually the place is called Custom Interiors in Indian Orchard, Ma. So can't give report on quality because haven't ordered yet. Have received swatches and had conversations on the phone. Will also check out the above web site. Would be interested in anyone in that area that might have used them before. At least they said they do have patterns for 56 Buicks which is a plus and the price seemed pretty good. It's just good to find anybody that will make some for an old car if you are willing to do the installation and not have to pay for a custom job. Roger
I contacted Fryer's and they said they can make a kit for the 63 Wildcat. They just need me to send a sample of the old carpet/upholstery so they can match it, plus a picture of the old seat for the pattern. Seems like the place to try. I will send them the information and see what they come up with. :TU:
