Learned about this today. Sad to hear it. I have been buying Coopers for better than 30 years and have had nothing but good luck with them. There stock has done great too. From the Akron Beacon Journal. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story...ying-cooper-tire-2-5-billion-deal/4538105001/
I had a surreal discussion with my tire guy several years ago in which he told me the only tire he sold in the store that he could guaranty was made in the USA was Yokohama. Strange world.
interesting . i sold alot of coopers when i stocked them at dealership ( 1987 - 2007 ) . i still buy from my local cooper guys for my own use . i'll have to check in with them outa curiosity .
Sad news indeed , I've been a tire dealer for 40 plus years selling both lines ..I'm pretty sure this will not be a good thing for Cooper tire employees ! Hopefully Goodyear will keep some of the Cooper plants open. My guess is they will for now but not long term.. Good for the stock holders ..especially Cooper's.. Stay safe.... Frank
I have Cooper Cobras all around on my GS, Cooper CS-5 Gran Touring on my Riviera. Great tires. Hope we can still get tires for our cars in a few years.
Quite honestly, I've never had good luck with Goodyear's. I have with General's and Cooper's. I hope this is not the end of Cooper tires as that would be a very sad day.
I've had my best luck with Hercules, they were at least a subsidiary of cooper......thank God I just put a new set on my yukon........need to scarf up some for the dually
Went from BFG to Cooper a couple years ago. Much improvement. All my cars have cooper tires now. This is disappointing
Yuk Yuk Yuk.....I hate GY Ive been on the fence for the Cooper cobra's. Although I didn't have any luck with coopers on my truck... Also leaning to the Hankook kinergy ST 737 I got the hankook kinergy PT 737s on my 92 Caprice those tires are quiet... the kinergy line is made in Tennessee.https://www.tirereview.com/hankook-tire-kinergy-st-passenger-tire/
I did a lot of studying before I finally bought the Cooper tires for my pickup truck to pull our camper The Coop's were about the best tire out there for the money and rated very well. I did not think the Goodyears were as good that was the Wranglers which are not bad by the reviews but the Coop's were so much better and so far ride real nice and decent traction in the snow. Got to wonder what will happen to employees and will the quality go down because of this. It may be better if Goodyear keeps everything the same I guess time will tell on this.
Cooper owns Mickey Thompson also, I have the sportsman tire white letters great tire and nice smoke very important
Damn ... there goes the neighborhood. That is bad news for the tire-auto industry/ American economy. Maybe they think Cooper will save them, but, I'm sure Good for a Year will self destruct Cooper as they have done to themselves. It won't be too long before Napcar adopts an international tire line. Cooper makes very good tires - GY -not so much.
