Got gears in, break in?

Well, good news, I got the US Gear 3.73 gears in the 12 bolt, and I don't hear a peep from the rear. The guy that installed them said that 500 miles is recomended for break in. That will be a pain in a car that is mid-project and that I am still in the process of tuning. He said that driving & stopping for a while, heating up & cooling down, is supposed to temper the gears. What do all you gear dudes think? Can I go for like ten 3 mile drives on the fwy over the period of 10 days or so and call it ready to rumble? I have a dire medical need to experience the posi as well.
    Thanx.

Here's what Richmond Gear has to say:

It's a bit vague, but it looks like they're trying to have you driving stop & go for awhile rather than have you hitting sustained freeway cruise speeds.

Usually a couple of heat up and cool down cycles is only required. Good gears will be fine. Do not over worry it. You'll be ok as long as all the bolts are torque correct and your install was good as it sounds like it is . Have fun and run them. Jim
